Watching Your Online Behavior
WHY READING THE FINE PRINT WITH THE CLOUD WAN AND WATCHING YOUR ONLINE BEHAVIOR IS SO IMPORTANT
Everything comes with a catch these days, even cloud WAN services. This is why you have to be careful with what you do.
Some contracts come with things that are not being advertised. There is one specifically I want to mention. This happened back a few years ago. There was one that included “sharing pictures and other images.” Well what the contract did not mention up front was the company has the right to “use these images for their own purposes.” The company later refuted their statements and apologized to the injured parties. This example is exactly what I am trying to illustrate.
You have to read everything. We all tend to graze through the contracts, even I am guilty of this at times. My point is to be sure of what you are getting into. The cloud is a great tool, but know what you are signing up for.
Look over the reviews of each option you get with the cloud WAN. Read over to see if there are any bad reviews being posted. This will give you some idea of what to expect.
Another thing you have think about is public posting. If you use a public computer for your work, you are risking the chance someone will get into things. Never save your passwords on a public computer. You can do this on your private computer, but there is too much risk with a public access. You never know when someone is watching you and what you are doing.
I had this happen to me once. You have to be careful with your online activity. It’s also a good idea to change your passwords every so often. Every 6 months should be fine, unless you want to run the risk of someone getting to your data.
